Hi everyone,

I just wanted to see if anyone else have NOT received their CSC payout for February? (since the beginning of the winterbreak, roughly 18th/19th January).

I was a bit concerned about this, thinking I might have done something wrong, or something is "needed" of me in order to continue to get the scholarship after the winter (hanjia) break.

Therefore I emailed the CSC; they replied that I need to speak to the International Students Office here at Beida, however, seeing as its a weekend I have to wait until Monday.

I am just writing this here, to see if anyone else has experienced this, or knows if I need to "do something" in order to continue getting the scholarship after the month-long winter break.

I hope it is just delayed because of chun jie etc (which CSC thought might also be the case), I am just a bit jumpy as right now I had 300RMB on my bank account and I don't really have folks back home who can support me. I know for a fact that I cannot live on 300RMB a month, or I guess I could, just have to go hungry everyday ;)

So if you guys have any experience with the CSC - Your university in cooperation - payouts after the hanjia break, please let me know as my hair is turning grey.

Best regards,

Basilm

You're not alone I'm in pretty much the same boat as you're. I should think that the stipend should be in this week. Here at Tongji there's some paperwork we have to get through just before we get our stipend and we all did that already. Btw your finances are in better shape than mine so don't worry.

Ah ok, yeah lets hope it will be given out during the coming week. At Beida I have so far never had to fill in some paperwork in order to get my monthly scholarship.

Isn't Shanghai even more expensive than Beijing? If so, 300rmb isn't much at all ;) I eat lunch+dinner at one of the school canteens, that's 10-12 rmb a day, without buying water or breakfast, so let's pray for some handouts the coming week :D

I'll try and make myself understood at the international office tomorrow, then I really know if I should panic xD

Update: I have now roughly 2½-3 weeks received two monthly payments, and thus I shall survive! (I did need to head to the International Students Office and whine about it).

How about you eshton?

Yeah I got mine this afternoon. Apparently there was a problem at the China Merchant's Bank. Shanghai is by far more expensive than anywhere in China (and I'm not saying that to boast). I've never known anyone here to actually survive purely on the stipend. Most people are broke in 2-3 weeks, 10-12 RMB is sometimes just one meal.
