Flashcards (闪卡、抽认卡、词语卡片……?)

I'm a little confused as to the best translation of "flashcards". A Chinese colleague told me 抽认卡 is the best word, and 百度百科 seems to agree, but my teacher told me that this isn't correct, and I should simply call them 词语卡片, with 闪卡 being an acceptable alternative. Which is the most common translation? Personally, I rather like 闪卡, but is this commonly used and understood?

It may depend on whether you're talking about paper or electronic. Speaking out of my hat, I'd say 闪卡 sounds more electronic, and anything with 卡片 in it sounds more like paper. But this is pure, unsubstantiated speculation.

Well, technically the term "flashcards" in English refers to physical cards, but that doesn't mean it can't also be used for electronic ones. The context in which my teacher suggested 词语卡片 was pleco-generated flashcards on my phone.

In Mandarin teaching circle, it usually translate " flashcard" as "閃卡".

I think "閃" , this word is pick the meaning about "show each vocabularies in few seconds". So, "閃" describe the act that the user operate vocabulary cards, "閃" is equal to "閃現".
