Durational Problems

大家好啊,请帮我!有一个问题。

Okies, I was studying durational grammar with verbs and wanted to know if

this was correct.

我练中文的语法练了两个钟头

or is it

我练习中文的语法练了两个钟头

谢谢你in advance

The second one is correct, the more correct way should be: 我练习中文语法练习了两个钟头

练习 - generally means the exercises through the brain, such as writing, reading, listening, speaking, etc.

练 - mostly means the physical exercises, such as swimming, running, weight-lifting, etc.

However, if we Chinese say this sentence, we generally say 我用了(or 花了)两个钟头练习中文语法

I believe your question is about the verb object noun phrase (and if you can split the verb or not)

You can split "吃飯" ("eat"... but literally "eat food") 我吃飯吃了兩個鐘頭

You can split "開車" ("drive"... but literally "drive car") 我開車開了兩個鐘頭

You can split "看書" ("read"... but literally "read book") 我看書看了兩個鐘頭

However, you can't split up "練習". You have to say: 我練習中文(*)文法練習了兩個鐘頭

(Also, note that it's not necessary to add the 的 after 中文)
