MrsTourville Posted March 11, 2013 at 06:26 AM Report Share Posted March 11, 2013 at 06:26 AM I have searched online for the translation of this tattoo. It is supposed to say Blondie. I got this done 14 years ago and had asked a local Chinese restaurant owner to write it out for me. Now I have to know what it really says. New Members timgun Posted March 11, 2013 at 10:19 AM New Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2013 at 10:19 AM Hi , I'm a Chinese. I'm afraid it's only a translation by pronunciation, which doesn't express the meaning of Blondie. The tattoo says Ba-lian-ly ,sounds like a foreign girl's name to me.They are Chinese characters in the complex form. And it seems like a pen-writing characters.Try Chinese calligraphy characters next time , which would be considered more artistic and classical. skylee Posted March 11, 2013 at 10:58 AM Report Share Posted March 11, 2013 at 10:58 AM Try Chinese calligraphy characters next time The pronunciations of the three Chinese characters are "ba lian ni". Together they do not really mean anything, but they could be a transliteration of a name. Are they what you wanted? Will you try to have a Chinese tattoo next time? lingo-ling Posted March 12, 2013 at 04:48 AM Report Share Posted March 12, 2013 at 04:48 AM Yup... approximate phonetic transliteration of "Blondie": 芭蓮妮 "ba lian ni". A Chinese person would see it as a foreign woman's name. Though the characters are hand-written, they look fine to me. It's nothing to be embarrassed about, especially if you adopt it as your Chinese name. By the way, the band Blondie is usually transliterated as 金髮美女, which means "golden-haired beauty".
