Pengyou Posted March 28, 2013 at 08:36 AM Report Posted March 28, 2013 at 08:36 AM Has anyone seen an erhu with guitar type tuning keys - with gears in them? I know that they make what I call "micro tuners" to add to the strings but it would be more convenient if they had a more substantial method to do the tuning, instead of the pegs. Quote
hbuchtel Posted March 30, 2013 at 05:51 PM Report Posted March 30, 2013 at 05:51 PM It doesn't seem to be very common, but some terms to search for would be 二胡机械弦轴 or 二胡铜轴. There are a few Taobao stores selling the parts, like this one, and some places selling complete instruments with 'brass tuners' installed. Quote

That's the standard type of geared tuners used on the erhu, although the best/ most expensive instruments tend to have wooden pegs. There is another type of brass tuners which looks more like wooden pegs, but in brass if you know what I mean. Quote
