DaveB Posted March 3, 2005 at 02:42 PM Report Posted March 3, 2005 at 02:42 PM Hi folks. I'm a writer planning on coming to China to visit the four holy Buddhist mountains. There is an enormous number of questions I have, and most of them are my problem. But if anyone could shed some light on the following, I'd be grateful. 1. Is there a followed pilgrimage route between these four mountains, or was there one in the past? 2. Are these pretty much recognised around the country as the four main mountains in Chinese Buddhism. If so, why? Just because of an emperor's decree? Thanks! d Quote

When you are under the mountains, you could easily find many pilgrims and monks. 2: Each mountain is a 'home' or lecturing place of one famous Budhisattva. Mount. Wutai--WenShu Budhisattva; Mount. E'mei--PuXian Budhisattva; Mount. Putuo--GuanYin Budhisattva; Mount. Jiuhua--DiZang Budhisattva. There're few influence from the Emperors in fact. Quote
