Ciferz Posted April 21, 2013 at 02:06 AM Report Share Posted April 21, 2013 at 02:06 AM Hello, I need help translating the following text into English. It is the first time I am reading a text using this type of vocabulary, and along with the classical Chinese names of texts I have issues grasping the meaning of it: The things in 《》are usually names of classical Chinese books/scrolls, if you cannot translate them that is no problem, I will do so later. I just want to understand the meaning of the overall text after all. Thanks a lot!
Caster Posted April 26, 2013 at 04:53 PM Report Share Posted April 26, 2013 at 04:53 PM In those years, Lu Xun and Hu Shi judged that Wu Cheng'en wrote 西游记(Journey to the West) only because of a book 淮安府志, volume 19, 艺文志. 淮贤文目. That book showed that《射阳集》;《春秋列传序》;《西游记》 these three books were written by Wu Cheng'en. But 淮安府志 shows no details about 西游记. In Qing Dynasty, a book called 千顷堂书目 written by Huang Yuji recorded that 西游记 is kind of geography book, obviously not novel. And in 二郎搜山图歌 Wu Chengen called Er-Lang God as Qing-Yuan Father, that's different from 西游记 Wu's book 禹鼎志 said :“all the stuff in heart have gone, only these tens of things still left" No matter this book was written before or after 西游记, it's quiet different from grandiose 西游记
