Hi to everyone

I'm posting to ask some questions about 倒.

Till now I used this word with two meanings: to pour something and as adverb (on the contrary).

Anyway 倒 has a lot of meaning: can anyone help me to list how this word is mostly used in chinese grammar?

Thanks

1. used with 摔,摔倒 = 跌倒, noun, slip; verb, fall.

2. used alone, interjection,= freak me out = be surprised/shocked. It's a new slang widely used by young generations. eg: Jack: 我昨天去冬泳了。Jane: 倒!你不怕冷吗?

3. as you mentioned above.

OP, have you got a good dictionary? I would think that there would be a comprehensive list of the usages of the word in any good dictionaries.

For example, take a look at the MDBG -> http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php?page=worddict&wdrst=1&wdqb=%E5%80%92

And the Lin Yutang Dictionary -> http://humanum.arts.cuhk.edu.hk/cgi-bin/agrep-lindict?query=%ad%cb&category=wholerecord (please note that this is an older dictionary)

Or this tool for students in HK -> http://www.edbchinese.hk/lexlist_en/result.jsp?id=0181&sortBy=stroke&jpC=lshk

Actually the Chinese Internet language develops too quickly that if you now say " 倒 " it will be very strange and posturing and considered out-of-date

We now say 卧槽,尼玛,碉堡,我了个去 ( short as 我去 ) to mean it.....all are very offensive words previously but because they are expressed in homophones words so much more popular
