New Members orangeman555 Posted April 22, 2013 at 07:57 AM New Members Report Posted April 22, 2013 at 07:57 AM Has anyone used QQ or QT for chinese learning? QT is completely in chinese, so when I click things and it gives me a red X, I have no idea why its not working. Feel like a toddler bumbling around. I had to get into a special chat with a native speaker so he could tranlsate my screenshots, and told me I was being rejected due to newness of my account and I needed to get out of the white jacket ...a little icon beside my name in the chat. Funny, does the white jacket mean I'm suspected to be a mental patient? I was rather hoping to keep a line open in chatroom (voice) as I work. Does it work that way, or does it demand 1/1 interaction? Any advice would be welcome. Its the only way I can get decent "immersion" for now. Quote
大肚男 Posted April 22, 2013 at 09:40 PM Report Posted April 22, 2013 at 09:40 PM I have never used QT, but QQ has an international version that is in English, which is OK. You might want to give that a shot. Quote

It's confusing at first if you can't read much of it, but it's not so bad once you get started. When you enter a room you will only have a white jacket , you need to get a coloured one from a moderator (wearing a yellow jacket), you will usually be welcomed to the room, especially if you are after language exchange. It's great fun I've taught a little English and practice my Chinese there. Quote
