Ian_Lee Posted March 4, 2005 at 07:14 PM Report Posted March 4, 2005 at 07:14 PM How good are the "frontier" songs of 刀郎? I read that the song he composed for Alan Tam is the best Tam ever sang for years. Quote
Tsunku Posted March 5, 2005 at 07:29 AM Report Posted March 5, 2005 at 07:29 AM The 刀郎 songs got insanely popular here about six or so months ago. You could (and oftentimes still can) hear them just about everywhere -- shops, KTV, on the street. The whole Xinjiang/grasslands/frontier thing got really trendy this year apparently. The songs aren't bad actually, a bit different from the regular pop stuff. However, I prefer 艾尔肯 for some really nice Xinjiang flavored music. His stuff is not quite as commercial as the Dao Lang, and sounds really good. Lots of Spanish influence in there as well. Not sure if this link will actually work outside of Kunming, but you can listen to an album here: http://music.km169.net/page/album/7102.htm Quote
