If you don't know Chinese why do you want it in Chinese? If you want people to be to understand your message why not write it in a language people around you will understand.

What did you want it to say? What do you think this means?

Using Chinese characters does not impart any kind of magic or special meaning to the words.

Pick a nice font in your own language and have it done well by a good tattoo artist. Remember tattoo artists do not usually know Chinese and they get their info from some very dubious places, not to be relied on.

Before you ink - think and then think again and again

You may be very disappointed with the results if you just breeze on in to a tat shop and ask for that, heaven only knows what you will get.

I have tried translating it, its not a good translation but it doesn't really make sense but I think it says character for character : not red winter cold, which/what know spring warm. So at a stretch (and I am sure the more knowledgeable will correct me) it could mean:not (red) winter is cold but you know spring warms you up. This is a very loose translation and i maybe way off the mark.

Not sure why you would want this as a tattoo forever on you.

Think a lot about the whole idea, please:)

I understand what you are saying Shelly, which is the exact reason why I have posted on this forum to ask for a translation check. I want to make sure it's perfect. Thank you for translating it.

Thanks Kenny aswell. Basically i want it to say "You must endure the harsh winter to appreciate warmth of springtime"

Would that be the same as you have written above? 不經冬寒,哪知春暖

Thanks to both of you for replying.

Sam.
