skylee Posted May 13, 2013 at 06:41 AM Report Posted May 13, 2013 at 06:41 AM A friend sent me an article on this building -> http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/architecture-design-blog/2013/may/10/beijing-peoples-daily-giant-penis Friend said - "The PRC bans people from making fun of it. There are phallic designs in other places, but not like this." Views? Quote
roddy Posted May 13, 2013 at 08:40 AM Report Posted May 13, 2013 at 08:40 AM Hands up if you'd like to know what Skylee thinks about the penis-shaped building. Personally I think it's a mildly amusing non-story. Quote

count_zero Posted May 13, 2013 at 12:13 PM Report Posted May 13, 2013 at 12:13 PM More poor China-related journalism from the Guardian. It takes like... two seconds on Baidu to find out what the finished building will look like. Unfortunately, quite a lot of online media seem to have picked up on the story from "legitimate" sources and run with it. That's how the echo chamber works. It's easy to get China stories wrong which is why proper newspapers should do some basic fact checking. Quote
frankwall Posted May 13, 2013 at 02:16 PM Report Posted May 13, 2013 at 02:16 PM Still, in its present state the building does look humorous. I'm sure it will be different when it's completed. Lot's of firms/countries do make architectural mistakes though. There was that military building in the United States which was shaped like a swastika from above. Quote
