lemimieux Posted May 20, 2013 at 12:32 AM Report Share Posted May 20, 2013 at 12:32 AM Hello! I need help translating a label on an antique medicine bottle I purchased. A basic search revealed that this may be an opium bottle from the late 1800's and is supposed to be Chinese, but I am not sure. Any Help would be greatly appreciated! skylee Posted May 20, 2013 at 10:36 AM Report Share Posted May 20, 2013 at 10:36 AM No it is not an opium bottle. The words on the bottle are 黃祥華萬應如意油 舖在佛山鎮文明里 (Huang Xianghua Wanying Ruyi Oil. Shop located in Wenming Lane, Foshan township.) Huang Xianghua is the brand name. Wanying Ruyi Oil is the product name. This product name basically says that the oil can be used to cure any illnesses. The brand, though old, is still alive and there is still a shop (at least one) in Foshan. Some more information on the oil -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yu_Yee_oil
