Congratulation !

How did you know that you are accepted ?

Did you email the university ?

@cherry

First, i want to congratulate you :) , about your question i don't think it is possible to change the course once you are awarded the scholarship. Try to contact the admission office if you want to do the course changing, but i guess no/less chance to have that favor.

@cherry.l - Well, the rule is that you can't change anything and you have to accept what you're handed. If you ask your school (in this case Zhejiang University) that you want to change your major they may or may not accept. If they accept, then that's all good. But if they do not agree or tell you that you should contact the CSC then the best approach would be to appeal to your Chinese embassy and get them to liase with the CSC. They may be able to consider your case and help with the change of major. That said, try your best to do this as soon as possible. Best of luck!

@Presando

Thanks for the details! I went through the same process except that I dealt with a man, got the cd package, followed the instructions to a T like you did. The only twist in my application is this : I inserted a letter staing that I would like to go the same university that my husband is going , he applied via another embassy since he is not trini. I wonder if that posed a problem?

ANyway, my husband got the scholarship - yippeee - so we still going to china ! Can I apply next year for the scholarship if I am already in China?

@shuoshuo

Trinidad does not have a consulate in Beijing yet - it is set to open in NOvember this year. I call CSC and the lady told me in a quite prepared kinda speech voice : "Please wait until July 15th , if you do not receive any documents by then , contact your embassy" .

So the status on laihua is worthless. Please tell me it changes at least if something was wrong with the papers.

Hi any one plz tell me what is the Annual Review of Chinese Government Scholarship Status....????

Posted

@Lancelot: no, it remains the same "currently is being checked" status. Mine was the same after getting to China, lol.

BtW, I have seen you have applied to Beijing top-notch unis. as far as I know, TsingHua doesn't have CSC languge scholarship spots, they just accept bachelor, master and PhD students as scholarship students. I'm not sure about BeiDa, but it should be the case with them as well. BLCU should be OK.

Are you Hungarian? If so, and you study on business, economics or engineering field, you have a good chance to get the scholarship to BLCU, according to my experience from last years.

if they want to give you the scholarship, then they find a university for you, don't worry.

@ZhangKaiRong

Thank you!

I didn't know about this. They should've mentioned this somewhere, why am I not surprised they didn't...

Yes, I'm Hungarian and currently I'm studying at BLCU with a 1 year CSC scholarship. This year I applied for the EU Window, also 1 year. Back in Hungary my major is economics. I've heard about this "business, economics, engineering + hungarian nationality" combo is a good one. Last year out of the 25 students who got the scholarship 14 was hungarian. This is why I'm kinda afraid that from this year they'll reduce the quota for Hungary. This and the fact I'm currently here what makes me really nervous.

Thanks again for the heads up!

Well, I applied to BLCU for a Bachelor Degree through Brazilian regular quota. I am freaking out. Last year the results came out on July 27th. :/

@shakilmahtab

If your scholarship is for more than 1 year (2 year language student, BA, MA, PhD etc) At the end of every school year they review your scholarship. Which means passing your exams and not getting into trouble. The rules may differ at different universities.

Thank you all for the congratulations!

@haytham I found myself in this list http://iczu.zju.edu.cn/intro.html . A day later I got an email from the University.

Thank you all for your clues. I'll start by writing to the office of the University.

@shakilmahtab - The annual review is done some time in the second semester each year, no matter how many years you're there for. You're told to write a short essay on your progress, your challenges, your successes, and so on. The teachers also play a role in the review. As long as you try hard and attend classes, you will not have a problem with this.

@Lancelot did you fail any exam during first year ? or how they evaluate your scholarship ?

Posted

@wallace187

I didn't fail any of my exams at the end of the first semester, might have failed one or two at the end of this one. I don't know the results yet. I can retake them if necessary, if I fail again I think it just going to look bad on my exam result sheet. I don't know about any evaluation process for 1 year scholarship students here at BLCU. Try not miss too much of classes (here you have to attend at least 60% or you cannot take the exam), don't do anything illegal and you'll be fine.

There might be different rules at different universities or if you're in China for a Bachelor degree etc.

@Lancelot thanks for answer,i asked that question because i wonder if they cancel the scholarship if you fail any exam during your study,so i am understanding from your answer that ,you can retake some exams if you fail,but it doesnt effect your scholarship status.

Students who have received a scholarship to study in China for more than one year need to pass the annual review. Wallace, if your scholarship covers two or more years of study you will need to pass this.

I don't know how strict this review is, because I only had a scholarship to study Chinese for one year just like Lancelot. I can only say that attendance is important in China, so my advice would be to try not to skip class. I can imagine that even students who don't perform that well academically would be able to pass the review just because of their attendance.

Posted

Very true Angelina. I know so many people who have difficulty passing their exams but because their attendance is 100% the teachers do whatever necessary to make them pass. I would say attendance is the most important in Chinese universities. Obviously, I have reservations on the inability for foreign students to pass their exams, but I'll keep my opinions to myself. :D

Hello everyone!

Does anyone know in case if my application was rejected will the embassy inform me about that? or only people who have been granted with scholarship will know their results?

And second question is does anyone know when beida, tsinghua and fudan will announce their results about schoarships?

Thanx in advance!
