xiaoguilao Posted June 1, 2013 at 01:59 AM Report Share Posted June 1, 2013 at 01:59 AM Today I picked up a novel called 初恋 'first love' by 张迅绘, and on the front cover is written 初恋 一草著。张迅绘 I asked my Chinese friend what 一草著 yicaozhe means and he told me it is just a nickname. This sounds strange, so I tried to find possible definitions, and came to the conclusion that it means 'a draft book'. I'd like your opinions on 一草著 yicaozhe occuring in this context if you can help. Thanks
skylee Posted June 1, 2013 at 11:17 AM Report Share Posted June 1, 2013 at 11:17 AM The title of the book is 初恋. The writer is 一草 (著 means written by). The pictures (on the cover or inside the book) were drawn by (绘 here means drawn by) 张迅.
imron Posted June 1, 2013 at 12:41 PM Report Share Posted June 1, 2013 at 12:41 PM Also, 著 has multiple pronunciations, and in this context it is zhù, not zhe.

By nickname the friend probably meant pen name, as 一草 is a pen name (筆名).
