skylee Posted June 1, 2013 at 11:09 AM Report Share Posted June 1, 2013 at 11:09 AM Who wrote those Chinese paragraphs? Are they a machine translation? They need some improvement in my opinion. Sorry I can't offer any advice.
Lu Posted June 1, 2013 at 02:15 PM Report Share Posted June 1, 2013 at 02:15 PM In Chinese you write that you're offering German to Chinese translation, in English you write the opposite... Imo it's best to only translate to your mother tongue, as you need a large vocabulary and a great feel for the language if you want to translate well, something that is very hard to achieve for a foreign language. Your Chinese name looks alright to me, but perhaps wait for input from a native speaker. I don't know if you'd really need a (Chinese) slogan, after all most of your customers would be German and unable to read Chinese. Good luck with your company! OneEye Posted June 2, 2013 at 03:58 PM Report Share Posted June 2, 2013 at 03:58 PM Do you really think the Chinese natives you're trying to deliver a message to will hire you if your Chinese is error-ridden? It doesn't exactly engender trust. My first thought would be, "How well does this person really understand Chinese if he writes like this?" Would you hire someone to translate German to Chinese if their German looked like it came from Google Translate? Always get things checked by a native speaker first. OneEye Posted June 2, 2013 at 11:32 PM Report Share Posted June 2, 2013 at 11:32 PM No need to get worked up. You posted in a forum, and I believe we can all comment on what we see fit to comment on. I was trying to be helpful. I wasn't commenting on your ability as a translator or your business model, just giving a suggestion. There are only a few native speakers on this board, and one of them has already said she can't offer any advice. If you're only interested in native speakers' opinions, maybe you should try a forum for native speakers?
li3wei1 Posted June 3, 2013 at 06:41 AM Report Share Posted June 3, 2013 at 06:41 AM It's a great place, though, for unsolicited advice. Just to rephrase what's been said, you're trying to convince people to hire a translator to reach a foreign-language market, but demonstrating that you don't feel that it's necessary to do so yourself. Like a printer handing out business cards that were done on a home computer.
Guest realmayo Posted June 3, 2013 at 07:59 AM Report Share Posted June 3, 2013 at 07:59 AM Come on, this is all a bit harsh ... are you seriously suggesting that the guy should have paid a translator before writing a few lines of Chinese in a post on chinese-forums? He clearly assumed there would be more native speakers here, that's all. It looks like people saw "translator" and thought "let's teach this guy some humility". Daming, hope you can find an answer to your questions elsewhere.
