New Members cm2013 Posted June 30, 2013 at 07:59 PM New Members Report Share Posted June 30, 2013 at 07:59 PM Hi, I have a jade tablet, and I would be grateful if anyone could help me with a translation. I think the characters are chinese, but I'm not sure. I hope you are able to read it. On the reverse side is a carving of what looks like a bat perhaps. Here are the symbols. Thank you
Shelley Posted July 1, 2013 at 03:41 PM Report Share Posted July 1, 2013 at 03:41 PM Yes I believe it is Chinese but in small seal script which makes it very difficult for me at my level to translate it, Somebody here that is more used to this type of script may be to translate them for you. As for the bat, this is a very common thing to find on Chinese carvings, pottery, etc.. as it sounds like the character for good fortune. 福 fu - good fortune, happiness, blessing 蝠 fu - bat As you can see the characters are also quite close, it is very common for this sort of thing to happen in Chinese. Good luck with the rest of the translation.
Shirley_Chen Posted July 2, 2013 at 01:21 AM Report Share Posted July 2, 2013 at 01:21 AM The picture is so fuzzy that I can't read it clearly.
Hofmann Posted July 3, 2013 at 08:49 AM Report Share Posted July 3, 2013 at 08:49 AM 浮生只合安道故人晚上子罔 Seems like nonsense. Probably a few fragments from the poem 芙蓉落盡天涵水 日暮滄波起 背飛雙燕貼雲寒 獨向小樓東畔倚闌看 浮生只合尊前老 雪滿長安道 故人早晚上高臺 贈我江南春色一枝梅
