luhmann Posted July 10, 2013 at 01:56 PM Report Posted July 10, 2013 at 01:56 PM I'm starting to learn Classical Chinesese now, and I wanted some novels too feed my reading, but I have just found out that most of the old novels I wanted to read, such as 西遊記, 紅樓夢, 封神演義, are written in 白話. I'm going through 三國 right now, which should keep me busy for a while. Are there more novels in 文言文? (Links to trad. char. versions are also apreciated Quote
skylee Posted July 10, 2013 at 04:15 PM Report Posted July 10, 2013 at 04:15 PM Consider 聊齋誌異 and 浮生六記. You can find the texts easily by searching the web. Something like these - http://www.sidneyluo.net/e/e6/e06.htm http://www.angelibra.../fslj/index.htm 3 Quote
Kenny同志 Posted July 11, 2013 at 01:18 PM Report Posted July 11, 2013 at 01:18 PM 林琴南 translated many western novels into classical Chinese. Some of his translations didn't fail to appeal to 錢鍾書 many years after 錢's first encounter with them. A set of 林紓譯著經典 is available on www.amazon.cn Quote
