triunfo Posted July 17, 2013 at 06:38 AM Report Posted July 17, 2013 at 06:38 AM First a little bit of my background: I was born in HK, current holder of a HK passport, HKID, and a Home Return Permit. Going to Shanghai for an student exchange/internship program in the Fall (August to December). My question is, do I still need a student/work visa? I know I'm considered a PRC citizen with Hong Kong residency, but I was wondering what is the correct procedure so I can "legally" stay in Shanghai for the student exchange and internship (not paid) program. I've read somewhere that I need to report to a local station of my location and purpose but my understanding of it is quite vague. If anyone can enlighten me I'll be extremely thankful Quote
skylee Posted July 17, 2013 at 10:21 AM Report Posted July 17, 2013 at 10:21 AM Have you contacted the internship programme for such information? According to this, no visa is required. I don't know if it is up-to-date or accurate. Quote
triunfo Posted July 17, 2013 at 12:14 PM Author Report Posted July 17, 2013 at 12:14 PM Hmmmm I would love to, but we don't know what internships we're having until we get to Shanghai. Weird I know, but that is how our university's program works. Thanks for the link and clarification! Quote
roddy Posted July 17, 2013 at 12:21 PM Report Posted July 17, 2013 at 12:21 PM Assuming this is an overseas (ie, non-HK) university, I'd just hand your passport in with everyone else and let them figure it out. Quote
