New Members sam1327 Posted August 1, 2013 at 03:25 PM New Members Report Share Posted August 1, 2013 at 03:25 PM I want to get the word rebel tattooed in Chinese & I really do not want my tat to be one of those stories where the context or spelling is completely off. I wanna know the correct symbol for the word rebel and I don't know if words are spelled differently according to whether they are nouns, verbs, adjective etc.. In English rebel can be used as any (noun, verb, adjective). So how would it be written?
Shelley Posted August 1, 2013 at 08:43 PM Report Share Posted August 1, 2013 at 08:43 PM Have you read the "sticky/pinned" post on this forum about tattoos. Give it a read if you haven't. Why not have it in your native language then the people around you will be able to read and know you are a rebel otherwise what's the point. Just cos its written in Chinese characters doesn't impart any kind of magic or special meaning to it. The tattoo artist may not be skilled in writing Chinese characters, you may end up with a badly written character. Why not pick a nice font in a language you speak and get a nice tattoo you understand. Remember , before you ink, think, and think again and again.
fanglu Posted August 1, 2013 at 11:25 PM Report Share Posted August 1, 2013 at 11:25 PM 叛逆 is the noun. There are a few verbs, but most of them have a connotation of 'betray' which I assume is not what you want. 造反 doesn't have this connotation, but its it does have quite a strong cultural revolution flavour as well, in my mind at least.
