skylee Posted March 13, 2005 at 11:59 AM Report Posted March 13, 2005 at 11:59 AM This thread is for non-Chinese films. I have recommended these films before -> Old Boy 原罪犯 Before Sunset 世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ I saw this movie today and give it 4.5 stars (max 5) -> 36 Quai Des Orfevres (二捕曲) Trailer -> http://video.mingpao.com/mpweekly/trailers/36_cable.asf The main actors are Daniel Auteuil and Gerard Depardieu. Auteuil is superb. A great actor. But I just miss the way he looked (and Andre Dussollier as well) in "Un Coeur en Hiver ". Quote
gato Posted March 13, 2005 at 06:45 PM Report Posted March 13, 2005 at 06:45 PM See also "Before Sunrise," along with "Before Sunset." The former was more satisfying than the latter, I felt, maybe because I was less jaded back then. I don't think Ethan Hawke has aged well. Julie Delpy, on the other hand, is more alluring than ever. skylee Posted March 16, 2005 at 03:48 AM Author Report Posted March 16, 2005 at 03:48 AM Jack, of the films you list I like these - Platoon The Terminator Léon The Piano La Haine (I like Mathieu Kassovitz and Vincent Cassel) The Deer Hunter Silence of the Lamb Ben Hur L'Appartement (thumbs up for Vincent Cassel; this film has an American version called "Wicker Park") LA confidential The commitments And though I like the actors and director, I do not think Crimson Rivers is good. Talking about Mathieu Kassovitz, have you seen his "Un Hero Très Discret "? I like this film a lot. But his recent film "Amen" is quite diappointing (I saw this film because he is in it). I think it is a big mistake to make a German film in English. Quote
skylee Posted March 16, 2005 at 03:58 AM Author Report Posted March 16, 2005 at 03:58 AM The next film that I am looking forward to is "Downfall" (希特拉的最後12夜). Bruno Ganz's name alone is enough to pull me into the cinema. Quote

darph Posted March 18, 2005 at 01:19 PM Report Posted March 18, 2005 at 01:19 PM My all-time favourite seems to be My Sassy Girl. I just love to see it. Damn funny movie. My favourite Japanese movies are Twilight Samurai and for anime Ghost in the Shell. "Im Juli" is pretty good (but German); as are "Les Rivières pourpres" (French). Quote

Lu Posted April 25, 2006 at 05:52 PM Report Posted April 25, 2006 at 05:52 PM Sepet. Not Oscar material, but an extremely cute movie, and the best ending I ever saw in a romcom. Quote
