Need English to Chinese translation

Hi everybody I'm new and I'm trying to translate a few words for a creative project.

I am looking to translate the following into Chinese: All Outside of Heaven.

With Outside being used in the following way: I'm Outside a building or Outside the country.

I managed to get a basic translation by myself: 普天之外

Is this a correct and sensible translation?

Wondered what your creative project is, because this might affect the best choice of characters you could have.

The first character pu 普 meaning is more like general, popular, universal rather than all.

The usual word for all that I know is dou 都.

My attempt at this would be dou yi wai tian 都以外天 all outside heaven.

The yi wai for "outside" is more of the meaning I think you want than the zhi wai you have which means "excluding".

I suspect that this may be considered a clumsy translation and someone else here will come up with a more accurate translation but this might be of some help.

I agree skylee. I sometimes try my hand at translations cos I hope to learn something and it makes me do some thinking. :)

Off topic - in my email notification of your reply it says 都以外天 is not acceptable but in the the forum your post says 都以外天is no good.

How does this happen?

Well the phrase is similar to the concept of All Lands Under Heaven which I believe is translated to 天下 or 普天之下. In this project the locations of focus are a collection of poor countries that surrounds a rich country which is described as being heaven. So I think a more elaborate phrase would be: All Lands Outside of Heaven

Here is what I think. The 普 in 普天之外 is not right. It applies to the subject, which in the case of 普天之下 is 天下 (ie the world). So the whole thing means all of the world. In 普天之外,as 天之外 or 天外 does not work as a noun, the subject will appear to be 天 (ie the heaven), and the whole thing sounds like outside all of the heaven, instead of all outside of the heaven. This is why I think it does not sound good.

I suggest the following alternatives, 凡間/ 凡塵/ 人間/ 濁世/ 塵世, etc, which all mean the world (outside of the heaven), or simply 天堂以外.

天外的一切 looks weird to me. The 的 makes me read that 天 as a modern word, and it becomes something like 'Everything outside of the sky' or 'Everything outside of the day'. Skylee's suggestions look good, but it depends on the nature and goal of the project which one is most suitable.
