XiaoZhou Posted August 31, 2013 at 04:39 AM Report Posted August 31, 2013 at 04:39 AM Hi everyone, I want to share a resource that I just found. I just signed up for the Coursera class 中国古代历史与人物--秦始皇, but it is from National Taiwan University, and my ability recognize traditional characters is pretty poor. I found the Chrome extension New Tong Wen Tang, which can automatically convert a web page in traditional characters into a web page in simnplified characters. Now it is much easier for me to read the class announcements. 1 Quote

Koxinga Posted August 31, 2013 at 05:45 AM Report Posted August 31, 2013 at 05:45 AM Or just use Perapera for the characters you don't recognize. This way you're bound to learn to read traditional characters too. 1 Quote
OneEye Posted August 31, 2013 at 07:08 AM Report Posted August 31, 2013 at 07:08 AM Yeah, I'll second that. Making yourself read the system you're unfamiliar with is the only way to get comfortable with it, and it will likely take less time than you think. I've had to read a decent amount in simplified recently after not doing so at all for months. I'm still a bit slower at it, but after just a few hours it was no big deal. Though if you don't have the little bit of extra time to devote to it, New Tong Wen Tang is great. Quote

Glenn Posted September 4, 2013 at 10:01 PM Report Posted September 4, 2013 at 10:01 PM I'm signed up for that course too (as well as 機率). I'm in way over my head, but I thought it would be cool to give it a shot. I actually prefer traditional characters, though. Quote
