civic94 Posted September 1, 2013 at 08:32 PM Report Posted September 1, 2013 at 08:32 PM about how much do they cost per session (2 hours) ? Im looking to visit a bunch of cities, such as beijing, Shanghai, and others, and all i really need is to work out 6 days a week, with 3 days at the pool, the other 3 days doing weights. Quote
Cat Jones Posted September 2, 2013 at 01:43 AM Report Posted September 2, 2013 at 01:43 AM I'm not sure many fitness centers will allow you to pay per session. You usually have to sign up for membership. One way to get around it though would be to say that you are interested in joining, but would like a free trial session. I've done this in a couple of places. Most gyms don't have a pool though, unless you are using a hotel gym or a really high end place. Quote

Cat Jones Posted September 2, 2013 at 08:18 AM Report Posted September 2, 2013 at 08:18 AM Errrrm, no I don't think there is. There are chains like Nirvana fitness, but I think they are just Beijing based. I might be wrong though. Quote
WestTexas Posted September 2, 2013 at 09:33 AM Report Posted September 2, 2013 at 09:33 AM It seems like you are going to spend 2/3 of your trip either exercising or looking for gyms. Quote
zhouhaochen Posted September 2, 2013 at 11:15 AM Report Posted September 2, 2013 at 11:15 AM I think WestTexas is making a very valid point. For swimming, you can find public swimming pools in most major cities, where you pay per time. For the gyms, you can bargain, try to get a trial day etc. but basically they do not offer usually single use passes. There are no chains where you buy one membership card and then can go to a gym in every city in the country - in most gyms it is even hard to just get a one month membership (at our school we had to talk to them for more a year until they finally started to give one month memberships to our students). I would suggest to either a) stay in one place and get at least a monthly pass or b) just focus on running and swimming for a while. Quote
icebear Posted September 2, 2013 at 02:01 PM Report Posted September 2, 2013 at 02:01 PM 2000-20000 per year in Beijing, depending on the luxury of the centre and how good you are at bargaining, which matters quite a bit in this case. Quote
