ChTTay Posted September 6, 2013 at 02:17 PM Report Share Posted September 6, 2013 at 02:17 PM I recently moved apartments and my old place is 10 minutes walk from my new one. They are not in the same apartment complex. In my new apartment, I cannot access this forum at all, ever, without a VPN. I went back to my old apartment and could still access this forum. I also used to use a TV website called www.verycd.com that provides updated links to TV shows but they are all hosted elsewhere. This worked in my old apartment but cannot be accessed in my new apartment. However, the sites that verycd links to work just fine (youku, sohu, pptv etc). Any ideas what's happening here? The above websites have also been working in various cafes around town.

ChTTay Posted September 8, 2013 at 10:40 AM Author Report Share Posted September 8, 2013 at 10:40 AM Beijing. My old apartment, I don't know. My new apartment, China Unicom I believe... the service was probably bought through a small office in my apartment complex though. My landlord set it up. tysond Posted September 9, 2013 at 05:44 AM Report Share Posted September 9, 2013 at 05:44 AM Not sure what's happening in your particular case but the implementation of the GFW does seem to vary a lot. Certain online services my wife uses are blocked over 3G but not Wifi at home. Check out http://firstmonday.o.../view/4628/3727 for a very interesting study on how keyword blocking implementation varies. I am noticing that over some networks recently the Chinese Forums has a long load time.
