新西游记

I am a real fan of this new 西游记 that came out in 2011, though I watch on Youtube with Chinese captions. The scenery in there is amazing. Is there a listing of the sites in which each episode was filmed (something like episode 34 was filmed where, etc)?

Have you seen all the episodes? I am now watching #34. I even made some listening comprehension exercises for the kids out of some amusing scenes.

Yes, watched most episodes live on TV when it first came out. A national channel would show an episode on prime time in the evening and a local channel would rebroadcast it the next day in late morning or early afternoon. Tried to buy it on CD, but wound up with an older edition instead.

The local friends who like 西游记 all told me they thought the sets and production in this 2011 edition were excellent, but they liked the acting in some older versions better. Personally, I'm not sure.

I was surprised to actually enjoy such a silly story, but I did.

The actor who plays the Monkey King is an accomplished wushu artist who has won awards in competition. That's what I like about the new version, how everyone is kungfu fighting.

I quite like the ever so cheesy 86版 myself.

I've only seen one other version, but I'm not sure which. None of the ones that come up when I search seem familiar. I remember enjoying it but stopped watching because it was a bit above my Chinese level at the time.
