skylee Posted September 22, 2013 at 12:06 AM Report Posted September 22, 2013 at 12:06 AM It is 妮达亚 (ni da ya) , probably a transliteration of Nadia or a similar name. Quote

New Members ginnyjay Posted September 22, 2013 at 11:18 AM Author New Members Report Posted September 22, 2013 at 11:18 AM Can i just ask if it would say Nittaya ? I was told it said Nicola or Nicky ! which one please is nearer ? Quote
Guest realmayo Posted September 22, 2013 at 01:24 PM Report Posted September 22, 2013 at 01:24 PM It gives the sounds ni + da + ya ---- sounds closest to Nittaya to me. The three characters look like they are being used for their sounds, not for their meaning. Quote
imron Posted September 22, 2013 at 03:56 PM Report Posted September 22, 2013 at 03:56 PM Can i just ask if it would say Nittaya It says Nittaya in the the same way that the combination of the following English words does: 'knee' 'tar' 'yard' If you put those three words next to each other and say them quickly, it sounds approximately like the same sound as Nittaya. That's what's happening with the Chinese in this case, except it's for different words. See here for each of their individual meanings. Quote
renzhe Posted September 22, 2013 at 04:20 PM Report Posted September 22, 2013 at 04:20 PM If you asked somebody to "tattoo Nittaya in Chinese", then this is what you would get. It could be worse, but at least it's a valid transliteration of "Nittaya" Of course, if Nittaya was your husband's ex-girlfriend, then it's already as bad as it gets, really. Quote
New Members ginnyjay Posted September 23, 2013 at 12:30 AM Author New Members Report Posted September 23, 2013 at 12:30 AM Thanks everyone, well that clears it up once & for all! My husband was working in Singapore for a few months a few years back! just found out recently he had met a girl there! When he came back he told me the Tattoo said my name ( Nicola ) his bit on the side was Nittaya! Quote
Demonic_Duck Posted September 23, 2013 at 06:33 AM Report Posted September 23, 2013 at 06:33 AM Ouchhh... sounds like your husband is a very stupid man (and evidently assumed you were unable to use the internet...) Quote
