Have a bit of a cold coming on and forgot to bring my meds from my wife's place to Beijing. Got some Tylenol (泰诺) in a pharmacy but would like to get some Lemsip if possible or something similar. Usually does the trick if I take it early. Anyone got any recommendations.

I don't think they really have Lemsip, but you can always ask for something called "日夜百服宁" or ri4 ye4 bai3 fu2 ning2. Does the same trick for me every time.

However I suppose Tylenol is pretty much enough.

The Chinese don't do lemsip. I suppose the closest equivalent would be 板蓝根.

You could squeeze some lemons, add some honey and boiling water stir well and sip slowly. Take two paracetamol and you should get the same effect.

In my family it was called a hot toddy and had a drop of whiskey as well but nowadays the whiskey is not compulsory :)

Get well soon.

Thanks for the tips guys.

A hot toddy. I have a mate back home in Ireland who loves the oncoming of winter as when the inevitable cold comes along its a great excuse for a hot toddy although I don't think he bothers with the honey and lemon. Maybe just a hot whiskey (or 2...:)
