China's Laobaixing 老百姓, the ordinary people

China Radio International recently published a beautiful little series of interviews and photo suites with some of the so-called Laobaixing, entitled "One in a Billion".

The subjects are quite varied, i.e. a professional fighter, a hairdresser operating out of a dingzihu residence (building earmarked for demolition), and an executive chef etc...

Really nice look into the lives of people at both ends of the scale. Check the stories out and see what you think. Very nice job from a state media organisation.
