Hey, I got this tattoo over a yr ago, and I had gotten it translated before I was told it was some ancent form of Chinese/Mandarin/Japanese that isnt used anymore. But that the translation is something along the lines of "to inspire something or someone" . I lost the email with the definition. Can anyone help Me?

Yes, it's Chinese. My dictionary has it as "to inspire confidence in" rather than "to inspire" and gives the compounds 深孚众望 (to enjoy the confidence of the people) and 不孚众望 (to not enjoy the confidence of the people). Not sure how common either expression is. Its pronunciation in Mandarin is fú.
