Possible Grammar #7 Resultantive verbs of direction

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi, I think this is really challenging for students like myself. But going beyond the basic 進來 , 出去 etc. and focusing more on stuff like 不能再忍受下去 .

Here are the ones I think are troublesome:

下去

上去

過來

過去

Any examples, rules for usage, etc?

不能再忍受下去--cannot bear it anymore.

下去--do down/continue/descend

下 down

上 up

去 to go

下去 to go down/to continue

上去 to get on/to go up

过來 come over

过去 link

sometimes the word afer a verb is not important.

they may be just meaningless or mean a little

in your case, the words after the verbs usually mean the direction

过去just means go

过来means come

上去means go upward

and it indicates you are downside

上来 means come upward

and it indicats you are upside
