New Members bradyman Posted October 31, 2013 at 08:20 PM New Members Report Posted October 31, 2013 at 08:20 PM Hi, I'm thinking about teaching English in China. I've taught for about 5 years in Korea, but I don't have any Tefl/Celta certification, though I have a 4 years Bachelor degree. I was wondering how hard it would be to find a job, and what sort of jobs I should expect to find and what sort of salary as well. Oh, I'm from the States. I'm open to teach most any kind of job: primary/secondary/university/adults, with the exception of really young kids (kindergarden and below; I could, but it would be my last choice). I would prefer a university job most of all and preferably in a large city (Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, etc.) So what do you think the prospects are? What sort of salary ranges would I be looking at? Do universities pay less than the private academies? Is it easier to find a job in smaller/medium cities than in the big ones? Are there any sort of companies, recruiters, or schools I should stay away from? Do most universities start hiring around the beginning of the school semester? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
