weikewen Posted November 4, 2013 at 08:33 PM Report Share Posted November 4, 2013 at 08:33 PM I have a friend who wants to show me how to make sweet soup. The recipe calls for brown sugar pian tang, which seems to be a little slabs of sugar. As a vegan, I must be selective about what sugar to use. Does anyone know which brands are vegan? Or does anyone have the ability to do a search in mandarin maybe to find out? I would appreciate this.
roddy Posted November 6, 2013 at 01:28 PM Report Share Posted November 6, 2013 at 01:28 PM They're all vegan, unless you're worried about the production process,in which case there's no way of knowing. The labelling systems just aren't there (and if they are, you can't trust them).
New Members dreaming Posted December 30, 2013 at 09:08 PM New Members Report Share Posted December 30, 2013 at 09:08 PM Basically if you are vegan in China, you have to be ok to eat food that might have been contaminted during the process at some point. The only vegan restaurant in Beijing that might be able to give you a 100% experience (and maybe some advice on sugar brands) is potentially Vegan Hut, they seem quite anal about the whole thing.
