hemmel Posted November 18, 2013 at 09:01 PM Report Share Posted November 18, 2013 at 09:01 PM Hello friend I purchased these buttons. they appear to be a set all different on the front. On the back there are markings, in characters. I don't know if they are Chinese or Japanese, but would be grateful if you might consider taking time to inform me what they are and what they say. Photos follow. Thank you in advance. Sincerely Melissa
renzhe Posted November 18, 2013 at 11:50 PM Report Share Posted November 18, 2013 at 11:50 PM They say 京勝東. They are Chinese characters, but the kind that are also used in Japan, so it could be either. The characters have meaning individually, but they don't make a word or have any meaning I can discern in combination. Google doesn't find anything either. It might stand for the maker, a company, or something similar.
耳耳语语 Posted November 18, 2013 at 11:52 PM Report Share Posted November 18, 2013 at 11:52 PM 京勝東 jing1sheng4dong1 (capital city/victory/east). If it's a name it would be Jing Shengdong.
Lu Posted November 19, 2013 at 02:28 PM Report Share Posted November 19, 2013 at 02:28 PM Could perhaps be the name of the company that made those buttons.
陳德聰 Posted November 19, 2013 at 11:19 PM Report Share Posted November 19, 2013 at 11:19 PM Considering the artwork looks distinctly Japanese, I'd say it's likely Japanese. Usually I go straight for place names, backwards and forwards but haven't been able to turn anything up.
