chenne2 Posted November 21, 2013 at 01:37 PM Report Posted November 21, 2013 at 01:37 PM Hi, I am interested in taking the HSK and specifically the HSK iBT, but unable to figure out if it is something you take at home or something you still go into an institution to take. Thanks for any clarification. All the best. Quote
Marguerite Posted November 21, 2013 at 04:44 PM Report Posted November 21, 2013 at 04:44 PM My understanding is that it's still given and proctored by approved institutions. It's not something you take at home. I'm not even sure it's really an "internet" test, rather than a standard computerised test. Think of the computerised GRE, if you are familiar with that. Quote
chenne2 Posted November 21, 2013 at 10:52 PM Author Report Posted November 21, 2013 at 10:52 PM Marguerite, Thank you for the quick response. Yes, I am familiar with that. The TOEFL iBT is similar to that system as well. I thought that would be the case for the HSK iBT, but was just unable to get anything in hard writing saying so. I guess I will go looking for my closest institutions then. Thanks again. All the best. Quote
roddy Posted November 22, 2013 at 01:08 PM Report Posted November 22, 2013 at 01:08 PM You can search for HSK centers here: http://www.chinesetest.cn/gokdinfo.do Look for the ones with 'Internet-based Test' next to their name. Welcome to the site, anything else we can help with? Quote
mokushiroku Posted December 24, 2013 at 05:07 AM Report Posted December 24, 2013 at 05:07 AM You've got to go to test center to take the HSK. It's just like the TOEFL or SAT: They need a test administrator there to ensure that you don't cheat (they don't care, actually -- it's just a formality). Quote
