Chinese Characters and Chat modules are complete and ready to use. Many cool things are in my mind and have yet to come!: http://hanzi.azurewebsites.net
imron Posted November 29, 2013 at 09:55 PM Report Share Posted November 29, 2013 at 09:55 PM I had a quick look at your site. It seems very much geared towards describing the technology you use rather than what your program does. For example why should a user know or care about WPF, MVVM and MAC addresses? New Members qdotnetsoft Posted November 30, 2013 at 08:06 AM Author New Members Report Share Posted November 30, 2013 at 08:06 AM Actually, I am more a computer programmer rather than a linguist. I've just decided to combine my deep interest to all things Chinese with my true passion for WPF/Silverlight programming to create something new. Moreover, I need to keep up with new emerging technologies. For example, I have a huge interest in cloud and data processing technologies, and my hobby project gives me opportunity to play arround with these computer technologies. I am going to improve the Dictionary user manuals in the future.
imron Posted November 30, 2013 at 11:06 AM Report Share Posted November 30, 2013 at 11:06 AM That's fair enough, but as a developer myself, I can tell you that the vast majority of your audience for this program will have no idea about what these terms are or mean, and neither will they care about them. If you want to attract people to use your product then my advice would be to have the website focus more on the application and how it can help learners, rather than on the technology used to implement it. As it is, neither the front page or the features page really make it obvious what your program does and what benefits it offers learners. New Members qdotnetsoft Posted November 30, 2013 at 12:03 PM Author New Members Report Share Posted November 30, 2013 at 12:03 PM I cannot agree with you more. Frankly, I have bad experience in explaining technical things to non-technical people. It's just development website. I am going to take all your advice into account on production version of the website that hosts the application.
