Hannahsue19 Posted December 1, 2013 at 05:59 AM Report Share Posted December 1, 2013 at 05:59 AM Hey. Guys I am Hannah from Taiwan. Recently, I started making Mandarin Learning Videos on YouTube. I upload them in a regular basis and I make printable class notes by myself. Meanwhile, I wish to know what you think of my videos! I love getting feedback positive or negative because it helps me grow as creators. I really appreciate that you spend time watching it. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChyLYKk-KBpRl5kK2LjKyGA
Kobo-Daishi Posted December 4, 2013 at 10:52 PM Report Share Posted December 4, 2013 at 10:52 PM Since no one seems to be interested in free Mandarin Chinese lessons, I think I'll have a go. I've seen your videos and wonder who your intended audience are. It's obvious it's not for beginners. So, intermediate or advanced students? There's already a plethora of bad Mandarin video lessons on YouTube. You say you're fluent in Minnan, how about giving Minnan a go? Just a suggestion. Kobo. Kobo-Daishi Posted February 12, 2014 at 10:47 PM Report Share Posted February 12, 2014 at 10:47 PM There's already a plethora of bad Mandarin video lessons on YouTube. You say you're fluent in Minnan, how about giving Minnan a go? I'm glad that you've taken my advice and started adding Taigi lessons to your YouTube video channel. It's a good start but I hope you add more structure to the lessons as you go along and really get into the basics and beyond. Like maybe a brief history of the dialect/language/regionolect/topolect/fangyan. It's history in Fujian, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, & Amoy, a sprinkling of some Japanese words from the colonial era, etc. Then the number of tones and some of the popular Romanization schemes. Then progress onto some basic vocabulary such as personal pronouns and so on. I see a lot of these teach Chinese videos, but, they usually have two things wrong with them. Either they're too advanced or they're too basic. They either think that Chinese is so easy that everyone already has a most basic understanding in it that they just jump in the deep end without explanation. Leaving beginning learners lost. Or two they give a few basic phrases that are no better than you'd get from an airport travel guide. Keep at it and jia you!!!!! ;-) Kobo.
