Cantonese pronunciation videos (link)

Here's a link to a flash program with videos of a woman's mouth pronouncing Cantonese sounds.

This looks like a link from closer to the original source (Hong Kong Education Bureau). I downloaded it too and it looks identical.

If you don't want to run the program you can still pick the individual videos out of the zip file.

Unfortunately, the Romanization is other than Jyutping or Yale, but if you want to confirm what you're hearing you could plug the character from the chart into a dictionary.

It doesn't show every sound, but it shows ng as a "vowel" and as a "consonant".

It has (what was the hardest for me) the Jyutping eo in

出 ceot1 (which they spell as tsoet1)

春 ceon1 (which they spell as tsoen1)

etc.

About the eot and eon, that's the EDB Romanization. The Wikipedia article on it calls it "Cantonese pinyin", although this term actually isn't used by the EDB, and add to the fact that all Romanizations can be called pinyin of Cantonese, so usually they use the system to Romanize the name.

I haven't been able to check out the files so I'm not sure how it shows the ng sound...

Oh wow I arrived on a new topic.
