photoman Posted December 12, 2013 at 03:05 AM Report Share Posted December 12, 2013 at 03:05 AM This message was written on a blackboard in a cafe serving Chinese seamen in Liverpool's(UK) Chinatown during the second world war.I would appreciate if someone could translate it, thanks. The message is blown up from a photo so looks a bit blurred. Look in attached file please.

lingo-ling Posted December 13, 2013 at 06:28 AM Report Share Posted December 13, 2013 at 06:28 AM Are there characters cut off at the bottom of the rightmost line? Down with the fascist imperialists! Victory to the Allies! Victory to China!
skylee Posted December 13, 2013 at 10:17 AM Report Share Posted December 13, 2013 at 10:17 AM Are there characters cut off at the bottom of the rightmost line? I don't think so. Take a look -> 法西斯蒂 (Fascisti)
roddy Posted December 13, 2013 at 10:32 AM Report Share Posted December 13, 2013 at 10:32 AM Photoman, it'd be great if we could see the full photo - even if there's no more Chinese, it'd be interesting.
photoman Posted December 13, 2013 at 07:05 PM Author Report Share Posted December 13, 2013 at 07:05 PM Thanks for your replies everyone - they are most helpful. There are no more characters on the right. I see now that the writing is read from top to bottom and from right to left. I think lingo ling's translation looks to be the most accurate. I have now included the whole photo.
lingo-ling Posted December 14, 2013 at 12:36 PM Report Share Posted December 14, 2013 at 12:36 PM OK, as said above, 法西斯蒂 is Fascisti So remove "imperialists" from my translation above!
