emmapeel Posted March 28, 2005 at 03:21 PM Report Posted March 28, 2005 at 03:21 PM I'm headed to Shanghai this June and July to visit my grandmother; I would LOVE to improve my (abysmal) Mandarin while I'm there. Does anyone know of short-term intensive programmes that are not of the super-expensive variety? I don't need accommodation - just a good course. Thanks! Quote
cantal Posted March 29, 2005 at 05:58 PM Report Posted March 29, 2005 at 05:58 PM Shanghai International Studies Uni, Fudan, Jiaotong are the biggest I guess. Will cost you maybe 1000-2000 bucks (summer progs are more expensive than semester progs). Let me know if you want some specifics Quote
dougm24 Posted March 29, 2005 at 11:59 PM Report Posted March 29, 2005 at 11:59 PM Hi, A wee while ago I inquired about Fudan and they replied pretty quickly, the address to write to is fso@fudan.edu.cn - but if you want the details (it's a few word documents with schedules) send me a message with your email address and I'll forward it to you. The gist of it is that for four weeks study it's 3300 RMB, which is about £200 - I guess around double that in dollars, and a 410 RMB or 50 USD application fee. Looking at it, it includes 3 and a half hours lessons a day and a few other extras like tours and shows. Doug Quote
