Birthday Cards and Stationary Shops

Does anyone know a good place for buying birthday cards in Shanghai? It is not as easy as I thought. I first tried Carrefour and  several small stationary shops in my area but they don't sell birthday cards at all (after asking all of the staff).

 

I had a look online but I can't find the type of gift/card related shops I would find at home (like Clintons, Card Factory etc) in China, as they don't seem too common. Anyone got an idea? I'm quite slow at finding things online using Chinese, so I didn't get very far.

 

Maybe one of the large stationary shops (文具店) would have some good stuff. Does anyone know any? Several came up on baidu maps but I can't be sure which are tiny little shops or the big chain ones.

Going back a few years, but the best bet used to be the stationary bits of big department stores.

I remember a whole block of stationary shops in Shanghai, with all kinds of pens, crafty things, paper etc. It was in the city center and I'm sorry I don't remember where exactly, makes this answer rather unhelpful.

Alternatively, try find the handycrafty, touristy shops in the overly gentrified places, they sometimes have nice cards that can easily be turned into a birthday card by putting Happy birthday on them.
