Faguoren2 Posted March 30, 2005 at 09:54 PM Report Posted March 30, 2005 at 09:54 PM Dear all, I have started to learn Mandarin Chinese for a while. I'd like to find a (free) software to write the simplified Chinese characters, for instance in Microsoft Word, to send emails, or to take part in a forum. Please give me your advice about an easy and efficient software. I am also looking for a software to translate Chinese characters into English words, and the reverse, almost "automatically" (for instance, just by let the mouse arrow stay on the word I'd like to translate). I have seen such a software somewhere, but I don't know its name ! Thanks a lot for your help Frank Quote
woliveri Posted March 30, 2005 at 10:04 PM Report Posted March 30, 2005 at 10:04 PM I use Microsoft's IME to input characters. It's free and easy to use. Here's some links to installing it: http://llc.ucdavis.edu/Guides/MSPY.pdf http://www.andante.org/ime_install.html http://matt.3rdlife.net/site/content/tutorials/type_chinese_in_windows.php http://download.microsoft.com/download/win2000platform/Install/3.0/W98NT42KMeXP/CN/MSPY.EXE Free Chinese Fonts: http://www.sino.uni-heidelberg.de/edv/sinopc/chinese_fonts.htm I also use NJ Star for translation: http://www.simtel.net/product.download.mirrors.php?id=79194 Also, for translating C>E>C I use: CIBA which came from Chinese Star I think: http://www.twobest.com/product/cb2000e.htm Quote
