ChTTay Posted May 8, 2014 at 04:04 PM Author Report Posted May 8, 2014 at 04:04 PM Thanks for the reply. What about to fillet it? For them to make a "fillet" of the fish. Quote
skylee Posted May 8, 2014 at 04:41 PM Report Posted May 8, 2014 at 04:41 PM Consider 把魚去皮、去骨,弄成魚排.PS - ref (and you can do it yourself) -> http://www.100how.com/food/xuangou/2014-01-15/5484.html"这里我们给大家示范如何给鱼去骨去皮,如何切鱼排。" Quote

abcdefg Posted May 9, 2014 at 02:33 AM Report Posted May 9, 2014 at 02:33 AM @ChTay -- #21 弄成鱼排, as @Skylee suggested, works in Kunming. But it is an unusual request since most people will cook the fish whole. Usually have to say it a couple of times and supplement it with lame gestures. If you have your fish filleted in the market, at least have them give you the rest of the (cleaned) fish so you can boil it for soup or stock. (You have already paid for the whole fish.) Asking for 鱼片 just results in carved slices of fish flesh, not an intact fillet. I never tried 切片, as @Summer suggested. Quote
Summer Song Posted May 9, 2014 at 03:09 AM Report Posted May 9, 2014 at 03:09 AM @abcdefg切片 only works when you buy very large fishes. My roommate likes buying grass carp to make spicy boiled fish slice, but it's too big to buy a whole one. So you can tell the seller to fillet some for you, just like "我要5块钱的鱼肉,麻烦帮我切成片" 1 Quote
skylee Posted May 9, 2014 at 05:27 AM Report Posted May 9, 2014 at 05:27 AM 要5块钱的鱼肉already indicates that the shopper does not want a whole fish. Whether 切成片 would result in one big slice of fish (fillet) or small slices would depend on the situation, I guess. Perhaps ChTTay could do an experiment. Quote
Summer Song Posted May 9, 2014 at 05:42 AM Report Posted May 9, 2014 at 05:42 AM Or you can tell the seller what kind of dishes you want to make, then he or she will fillet the perfect slice as you want. 1 Quote
