颐和园 (The Summer Palace)

Does 颐和园 have any literal meaning? Where does the name come from?

颐 here means 养, keep fit, make someone comfortable

和 means 调和, 阴阳调和, conciliatory.

There were chosed and put together by some scholar accidently I think.

Thanks, for the help. For some reason, I could not come up with any meaning for this name that didn't involve "cheeks." I need to get better at reading between the lines of dictionary entries.

From what you say, I guess the name could be interpreted as something like the "Park that will leave you feeling cared for and in perfect harmony." Not a bad name for a palace.
