trisha2766 Posted January 30, 2014 at 03:06 PM Report Posted January 30, 2014 at 03:06 PM Has Jackie Chan been on yet? (and I should have said my computer isn't working well, not that it isn't working or I wouldn't be able to type this) Quote
Meng Lelan Posted January 30, 2014 at 03:11 PM Report Posted January 30, 2014 at 03:11 PM Yes Jackie Chan has been popping up a few times already. Quote
trisha2766 Posted January 30, 2014 at 03:14 PM Report Posted January 30, 2014 at 03:14 PM I hope he's on again. And does anyone know if or when or on what channel they will repeat it? Quote
Touchstone57 Posted January 30, 2014 at 03:20 PM Report Posted January 30, 2014 at 03:20 PM The little skit with three guys trying to 'sneak into' the show was quite enjoyable, and a little bit trippy. Some of the camera work on the magic tricks was a little shoddy, as it stopped it from being an illusion. I'm not sure what it is like compared to previous years, but it is palatable so far, apart from the singing performances (A Chinese and a Korean man singing love songs to each other?) Quote
trisha2766 Posted January 30, 2014 at 04:09 PM Report Posted January 30, 2014 at 04:09 PM How long past midnight does it usually last? Quote
gato Posted January 30, 2014 at 05:05 PM Report Posted January 30, 2014 at 05:05 PM I just looked the program for the last several years. It's the first time that the army has performed on 春晚 in many years. Maybe Xi Jinping likes that stuff. His wife is a singer in the army after all. Quote
roddy Posted January 30, 2014 at 05:12 PM Author Report Posted January 30, 2014 at 05:12 PM Maybe we'll get some decent parades then... I missed it due to being on a train, good to see a few folk on here enjoying it. Happy Horse! Quote
Shelley Posted January 30, 2014 at 05:31 PM Report Posted January 30, 2014 at 05:31 PM Well I had to miss a lot of it due to a hospital visit (nothing serious, just a checkup) What I saw was fun and colourful. One advantage of not being able to understand the songs is that I just enjoy the tunes and spectacle. If anyone knows if there will be any repeats I would like to watch some more. 快乐新年大家 Quote

Meng Lelan Posted January 30, 2014 at 11:06 PM Report Posted January 30, 2014 at 11:06 PM Is that girl really going to spin around on the spot until midnight, or was that a joke? Did that girl whirl up to the end of Chuntacular? Quote
Meng Lelan Posted January 31, 2014 at 01:24 AM Report Posted January 31, 2014 at 01:24 AM Seems to be replaying right now on http://tv.cntv.cn/live/cctv1 Did 大山 perform anywhere in here? Quote
trisha2766 Posted January 31, 2014 at 02:38 AM Report Posted January 31, 2014 at 02:38 AM Yes, I think she did twirl around until the end! I just show that it was on again too, unfortunately its about right where it was when we first saw it earlier. I'd still like to see the beginning. Never did see a part with Jackie Chan. If anyone sees when its going to be on again please post it! Quote
Meng Lelan Posted January 31, 2014 at 02:42 AM Report Posted January 31, 2014 at 02:42 AM It is replaying right now, look at my post #53 and click on the link. Quote
trisha2766 Posted January 31, 2014 at 02:45 AM Report Posted January 31, 2014 at 02:45 AM It looks like Phoenix TV US is showing it now too, but earlier in the show, so I'm not certain if its the same thing or not since I didn't see the beginning. At any rate, I just remembered that even though the dvr that comes with KyLin doesn't let us record we can go back and watch something up to 48 hours earlier - so I can go back and watch the beginning tonight! Meng Lelan Posted January 31, 2014 at 02:50 AM Report Posted January 31, 2014 at 02:50 AM Well cctv 1 is showing the French singer along with this singer guy who looks familiar....from the Beijing Olympics theme song or something???? The whirly girly is creepy. Can someone please explain to me why she is there whirling through the Chuntacular show as a sideshow? Quote
mouse Posted January 31, 2014 at 04:18 AM Report Posted January 31, 2014 at 04:18 AM Well cctv 1 is showing the French singer along with this singer guy who looks familiar....from the Beijing Olympics theme song or something???? Can't remember the Olympics, but I think Sophie Marceau was singing with whatshisface from the Voice of China. He did that Water Margin song. [quick google search] Liu Huan. Quote
murrayjames Posted January 31, 2014 at 04:40 AM Report Posted January 31, 2014 at 04:40 AM Yes, that was one of the weirder moments of the night. Did anyone else catch the backlit dance that for 5 seconds looked like, well... male anatomy? http://www.weibo.com/3223562613/AurGp2bSg 刘欢 and Sophie Marceau (warning: cruel language) http://www.weibo.com/1871599514/AurTm7cKB backlit dance (warning: phallic choreography) Quote
trisha2766 Posted January 31, 2014 at 05:20 AM Report Posted January 31, 2014 at 05:20 AM Can anyone give me a summary of the long skit towards the beginning with the woman in the wheelchair? I really with they had subtitles. Quote
