pandamanyan Posted January 26, 2014 at 02:27 PM Report Share Posted January 26, 2014 at 02:27 PM Hey guys, Was just wondering if anyone knows anywhere to get character exercise books for writing out characters (with the squares) for cheap or in a bundle? Either in London or online? Thanks
Ruben von Zwack Posted January 26, 2014 at 05:47 PM Report Share Posted January 26, 2014 at 05:47 PM I bought some on ebay, but I found they are so small that you cannot write much on one page. So now that I found out you can make + print your own from online, I don't use the Tian Ge Ben anymore. If you want to print your own, too, scroll down to the bottom of the page: http://www.incompetech.com/graphpaper/writing.html
johnk Posted January 26, 2014 at 06:01 PM Report Share Posted January 26, 2014 at 06:01 PM I just gave away a pile of these just last week. I got mine at the Guanghwa bookshop 112 Shaftesbury Avenue, London W1D 5EJ
Meng Lelan Posted January 26, 2014 at 06:54 PM Report Share Posted January 26, 2014 at 06:54 PM Or instead of buying those little booklets you can make your own using Hanzi Grids: http://www.hanzigrids.com/

imron Posted January 27, 2014 at 06:33 AM Report Share Posted January 27, 2014 at 06:33 AM So...it wasn't imron this time! Things have been a bit busy recently, so I only saw this thread now -- otherwise I would have linked to HanziGrids too :-) Thanks Meng Lelan. Meng Lelan Posted January 27, 2014 at 11:50 AM Report Share Posted January 27, 2014 at 11:50 AM I did wonder where imron was when I saw the title of this thread so took the liberty of jumping in here. Didn't mean to take over the world, I mean, imron's job, really, but everyone seems so busy lately and I am not, which is weird. Anyway. Something else too, even in Chinese grocery stores in Beijing they would sell small booklets of character tracing exercises, 描红 I think, someone correct me on this one. They were cheap and plentiful and I would bring back home bunches of them. Some of them weren't bad actually, especially the ones for practicing radicals. They tend to be written for children but they can be useful for those in the first year of Chinese learning. I don't know if they can be ordered online, maybe get a friend to pick up a bunch at the grocery store in China.
