pprendeville Posted February 16, 2014 at 09:37 AM Report Posted February 16, 2014 at 09:37 AM Want to start a separate thread for this. What are the consequences? Had been asked to provide birth certs certified by Irish Embassy. Got true copies and then we were subsequently asked to provide details that my wife was in Ireland when our children were born so I've got discharge letters from the maternity hospital in Dublin and my wife will go back to Shijiazhuang tomorrow, have them translated and go go to the visa office. I hope they will suffice. Otherwise I'd better start booking tickets for exiting China. Quote
roddy Posted February 16, 2014 at 09:58 AM Report Posted February 16, 2014 at 09:58 AM Anything between a slap on the wrist and a prison term with a massive fine. Want to edit in some more details? Otherwise you might as well delete the topic and Google the appropriate law. 1 Quote
pprendeville Posted February 16, 2014 at 11:16 AM Author Report Posted February 16, 2014 at 11:16 AM Ok I should have googled this. Lots of dodgy stories. Feel free to deleted I definitely won't be overstaying. Quote
zhouhaochen Posted February 17, 2014 at 06:06 AM Report Posted February 17, 2014 at 06:06 AM good choice pprendeville. While there have been reports of people who overstayed the first time of just being let go, it is not worth the risk. It will certainly make entering China next time harder. Quote
roddy Posted February 17, 2014 at 11:55 AM Report Posted February 17, 2014 at 11:55 AM Well, if it's any consolation, you're a front runner for the "Complicated Visa Situation of the Year" award. Unfortunately the prize is three days in jail and negative 500Y. Quote
