Does Nexus 5 bought in N. America work in China?

I am thinking about getting a Nexus 5 phone from Google. There is a N. American version and a "rest of the world version" The rest of the world version can't be purchased in N. America, so I would be getting the NA version.

Does anyone here have the North American version of the Nexus 5 that is functioning properly on the Chinese phone networks?

Hey dude I'm running a NA nexus 5 in Hong Kong-- no problems whatsoever. But the "Google Now" function only works if your phone's language is set to US English

I am not familiar with the Nexus 5, but as long as it is not CDMA you should have no problem.

I have a US Nexus 5. Actually, for China it doesn't matter if it's the US or the international version, since you won't get 4G anyway. To put it simply, 4G is poorly supported/ridiculously expensive outside the US.

You can get 2G/3G with China Unicom (中国联通) and only 2G with China Mobile (中国移动). N5 won't work at all with China Telecom (中国电信), but that should be obvious.
