A young girl's dreams get a hard reality check after her first day job hunting in Beijing. I like the way her relatives console/tease her.

伯乐        Bo2le4                  a good judge of talent (originally the name of a legendary connisseur of horses, which explains the following joke)

目光短浅     mu4guang1duan3qian3           short-sighted

千里马      qian1li3ma3       a talented person, a fine steed (the thousand mile horse)

上蹿下跳     shang4cuan1xia4tiao4    leaping and galloping around

愣          leng4             unexpectedly, surprisingly (used in the same way as 竟然)

承受        cheng2shou4       bear, undure

忠言逆耳     zhong1yan2ni4er3  good and honest advice offends the ear

门槛        men2kan3          threshold

平庸        ping2yong1        mediocre

哲理        zhe2li3           philosophy

内在        nei4zai4          intrinsic qualities

定位        ding4wei4         orientation, location

好高骛远     hao4gao1wu4yuan3  aim too high

脚踏实地     jiao3ta4shi2di4   have one's feet planted on the ground

头撞南墙                       this refers to a situation where someone who was already told that something was impossible to do didn't believe that person and went ahead and tried anyway, only to discover that it really was as impossible as they were told (the longer version of this is 不撞南墙不回头)

深刻        shen1ke4          deep, profound

消化        xiao1hua4         digest

晦气        hui4qi4           bad luck
