New Members damokee Posted March 1, 2014 at 02:42 PM New Members Report Share Posted March 1, 2014 at 02:42 PM I saved two paintings from being tossed, one is pictured bellow. The paper that this is written on looks very aged, so it intregued me to search for a translation. I took it to a Chinese friend of mine who said it was too old for her to read, but thought it was Chinese. Then I showed by Japanese friend, who has since been helping me try and translate these two paintings, she thought it was old Japanese but couldnt read it either. I will take any help anyone is willing to give me at this point.
skylee Posted March 2, 2014 at 01:03 AM Report Share Posted March 2, 2014 at 01:03 AM it is Chinese. From right to left, top to bottom - 白石翁與白易山人皆得法於寫景而變化處各有不同 - The two painters Qi Baishi (aka Baishi Weng) and Baiyi Shanren were both good at painting scenery but with different variations. PS - signed 修壽 Xiu Shou (as far as I can tell).
New Members damokee Posted March 2, 2014 at 02:21 AM Author New Members Report Share Posted March 2, 2014 at 02:21 AM Thanks for the reply, I appreciate the translation. So its a painting recognizing other painters? We thought it was a poem. I appreciate how old it looks, thats why I saved it. I will research it more so I can become more educated about it when friends ask me questions . The other one I saved is down bellow. My friends and I thought it said something about spring? What do you think?
